On this episode of Healthier Vibrations, Sean Stoltenburg and I discussed Sonic Sadhana, as a form of devotional bhakti. As spiritual practitioners, many of us are familiar with japa meditation, kirtan and mainstream bhakti, but Sean brings a deep rich vibration into “sonic ritual”.
Sean is a ritual artist based out of the ancient Susquehanna River Valley of Central Pennsylvania. He is a practitioner of Shaktism. He is most known as his moniker Rhazuns; a ritual dark ambient project. He has many other albums under other monikers such as Mountain Court, Poisonous Clouds of Cultural Static and Black Cat Shadow. He has recorded well over 30 albums, many which are supplemented with written transmissions and prose through his imprint Handwerk Music. His most recent release as Rhazuns- titled “Mahakali” is a 50 minute sonic sadhana dedicated to the Mother Goddess and comes with the written work titled “A Song for My Mother”.
Sean discusses his creative process and inspirations as well as his upcoming projects which include: ~ Sonic Sadhana – a compendium that will accompany the box set of Rhazuns
~ Narasimha Verses: a collaboration with Craig Williams
~ A musical project with artists including Maha Prayala, Nam-Khar, Shibalba and more.
