Power Oatmeal Breakfast by Christie Smirl 

Breakfast is such an important meal of the day. Studies show that people who eat a balanced healthy breakfast have steadier levels of energy, better concentration, healthier digestion, higher metabolic rates and maintain healthier weight.

So many of my clients tell me that they just don’t have time to prepareand cook a good healthy breakfast, so

they grab some typical fast breakfast such as a doughnut or some other GMO/pesticide laden flour bagel with hormone and antibiotic rich cream cheese made from dairy. Instead, I often recommend this power breakfast which requires no cooking and only takes minutes the night before.

 

Ingredients:

– 2 cups organic rolled oats

– 1/2 cup raw organic almonds

– 2 tablespoons organic flax seeds

– 1 tablespoon organic fennel seeds

– 1/2 cup organic raisins

Instructions:

Place all the ingredients together in a bowl. Pour filtered water over all the ingredients so they are submerged. Cover and leave on counter over night. Strain in a colander. Serve in a bowl. Some people enjoy a little warm almond, coconut or hemp milk poured on top. I like a little cinnamon sprinkled on top. My family loves it with a little grade A organic maple syrup poured on top.

Serves 2-3 people

Appropriate for Vata, Pitta and Kapha constitutions.
